ELECTRA Connects at SET Plan 2026
On 27 May 2026, ELECTRA was represented by Francesco Reda from VTT at the SET Plan Implementation Working Group on Sustainable and Efficient Energy Use in Industry (IWG-Industry) Annual Event in Brussels.
Organised in cooperation with A.SPIRE as part of the European Sustainable Energy Week, the event brought together representatives from industry, research organisations, European projects, energy agencies and policy institutions to discuss how industrial electrification can be effectively integrated into the European energy system and deployed across regions and industrial sectors.
The discussions addressed technological pathways for industrial electrification, system integration and demand flexibility, as well as the dissemination and replication of innovative industrial solutions. Particular attention was given to how results from EU-funded projects can be translated into practical approaches and transferred to industry through European, national and regional networks.
These exchanges are closely aligned with ELECTRA’s ambition to support the transition of energy-intensive industries towards electrified production processes. The project is developing and validating electrically heated technologies for the cement, lime and pulp industries, while investigating their scalability, flexibility and potential contribution to industrial decarbonisation.
Participation in initiatives such as the SET Plan IWG-Industry Annual Event also contributes to ELECTRA’s networking activities, fostering knowledge exchange and connections with relevant European initiatives working towards the decarbonisation and electrification of process industries.
